SZA, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish were among the winners at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Taylor Swift stole the show at the event in Los Angeles by making Grammy history by becoming the first performer to win the prize for Album of the Year four times, after taking the prize for her latest, ‘Midnights’. It follows her previous victories for ‘Fearless’ in 2010, ‘1989’ in 2016 and ‘Folklore’, which moves her out of her tie with Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra and Paul Simon - making her the lone record-holder of most album of the year wins in Grammy history with her four, and also was the perfect time for her to reveal a surprise new album.

Amongst the other highlights, singer-songwriter SZA led the nominations with nine - ended up with three prizes. She also performed at the ceremony, staging a recreation of the Crazy 88 fight scene from Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill to accompany her hit of the same name, which was named best R&B song.

“I came really, really far, and I can’t believe this is happening,” she said. She was joined by a phalanx of sword-wielding female dancers who swiftly dispatched hordes of men in suits.

Fellow females, Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish, took the other top awards at Sunday's ceremony. The show – in the main - was dominated by women, with SZA’s fellow R&B stars, Victoria Monét, together with all-female indie supergroup Boygenius picking up multiple awards, with show-stopping appearances coming from music icons Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell. In addition, they both gave rare and poignant performances.

It was a big year for female artists, with seven out of eight nominations in the category going to women. And, as such, the Awards ended with a bang, as headline-grabbing Taylor Swift took home her fourth album of the year trophy, to cements her position as one of the greatest songwriters of her era.

At the 66th annual Grammy Awards, female artists made a significant impact. Here are some notable achievements:

  1. Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical: The award went to Theron Thomas, one of the talented female songwriters.
  2. Best Pop Duo/Group Performance: The track ‘Ghost in the Machine’ by SZA featuring Phoebe Bridgers emerged as the winner in this category1.
  3. Best Dance/Electronic Music Album: Fred again… took home the trophy for ‘Actual Life 3 (January 1 - September 9, 2022)’ .
  4. Best Traditional R&B Performance: Victoria Monét secured a win with ‘Good Morning’ featuring Susan Carol.
