Walsall College currently has over 90 live apprenticeship vacancies and is inviting students across the borough, looking to get on the career ladder, to come along to its Apprenticeship Jobs Fair on Saturday 14 January, 10am-2pm. Students will have the chance to find out more about the opportunities available and apply for vacancies at the event, which is being held at the college’s Wisemore Campus.

Opportunities are available in a wide range of industries, from construction to dental and hairdressing to pharmacy, and from GCSE right through to degree level. By coming to the event, students could land themselves a job in their dream career with an immediate start. Staff from the college’s Job Shop will also be on hand with interview advice and tips on completing the National Apprenticeship application form.

Bhandals Dental Practice, HCB Solicitors and The West Brom building society and Midland VW are just some of the employers that are currently looking to recruit an apprentice.

More and more school leavers are now taking up apprenticeships as A-levels and university are no longer seen as the only route to a successful career. Apprenticeships allow people to gain their qualifications in the workplace and earn a wage whilst working alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills.

James Norris, Assistant Principal for Commercial Development at Walsall College, commented: “Apprenticeships provide young people with the opportunity to gain valuable skills and real work experience that will lead to greater employment prospects in the future, and are also a fantastic way for businesses to develop new talent and pass their knowledge on to the next generation of workers.”
