A Leicestershire scout group has received a £1,500 donation from a local housebuilder to support the development of a new outdoor education facility.

The funding from Coalville-based David Wilson Homes was awarded to 1st Kibworth Scout Group as part of the housebuilder’s Community Fund initiative, which is granted via its parent company Barratt Redrow’s charitable arm, The Barratt Redrow Foundation. Formed in 1910, the 1st Kibworth Scout Group has been at the heart of the community for more than a century.

It currently supports around 180 members, aged four to 14, through weekly activities that encourage friendships, personal development, and skills for life. The donation contributed to a £26,000 capital project to create an outdoor education facility on land recently donated to the group.

Samuel Arnold, Group Lead Volunteer at 1st Kibworth Scout Group, said: “We were delighted when David Wilson Homes told us we’d been chosen to receive a donation.

“Our group is led by a dedicated team of local volunteers who want to give back to the community, so having their hard work recognised and supported was hugely rewarding. This contribution helped us progress a major project that will benefit young people in Kibworth for years to come.

“Donations like this can be the difference between a project happening and not – it really has made a huge difference.” John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “Scouting plays such an important role in helping young people build confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills.

“We’re proud to support 1st Kibworth Scout Group with its new outdoor education facility, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on future generations.”
