World Diabetes Day, to be observed annually on November 14, provides a global platform to emphasize the importance of well-being in diabetes care, inspiring better management and quality of life for those affected.
This year’s theme focuses on resilience, organization, and personal responsibility. It addresses the daily challenges millions face in managing diabetes at home, work, and school, which impacts both their physical and mental health. In the Caribbean, diabetes is a significant health burden contributing heavily to disability and death, according to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA).
World Diabetes Day provides an opportunity for patients, healthcare providers, advocates, policymakers, and the public to come together to raise awareness and drive action on diabetes globally.
