As well as winning the award for Global Travel Retailer of the Year – the most coveted prize at the annual ceremony – Qatar Duty Free also walked away with awards for Airport Travel Retailer of the Year and Best New Shop Opening (since January 2014) for its Marmalade Market concept at Hamad International Airport (HIA).

“Qatar Duty Free is delighted to have been recognised by Duty Free News International at its annual global awards ceremony,” said Senior Vice President Qatar Duty Free, Keith Hunter. “We are honoured to be chosen by this leading publication as both the Global Travel Retailer of the Year and the Airport Travel Retailer of the Year, and to receive the award for Best New Shop Opening. These awards come at the end of a busy and exciting year for Qatar Duty Free, which moved to Hamad International Airport in April last year, and it is very satisfying to know that the hard work of our team has been acknowledged within the industry.”

This is the third consecutive year that Qatar Duty Free, which has been operating since 2001, has been awarded the prize for Global Travel Retailer of the Year, beating tough competition from other global travel retailers.

At HIA, QDF offers 40,000 square metres of combined retail, food and beverage facilities, establishing the retailer as a premier shopping and dining destination. With more than 70 retail outlets offering an unprecedented selection of designer labels, fashion, electronics, gourmet foods and much more, Qatar Duty Free at HIA caters to all passengers’ tastes.

In addition, more than 30 cafés and restaurants offer a sumptuous selection of global and local cuisine. Other luxury brands also available at HIA include: Bulgari, Hermès, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Mont Blanc, Rolex and Chanel.
