The leaders of Haringey Council's two political parties have come together to call for fairer funding for the borough's schools.
Council Leader Claire Kober (Labour) and Opposition Leader Gail Engert (Liberal Democrat) have sent a joint letter to the Secretary of State for Education urging her to reconsider changes to the schools' National Funding Formula, which will see Haringey schools lose significant levels of funding.
Following years of hard work by teachers, school staff, governors, students and the local authority - underpinned by decent education funding - almost all of Haringey's schools are now rated as "good" or "outstanding" by Ofsted. The council fears that schools' achievements could be placed in jeopardy if they are forced to make difficult decisions in order to balance the books.
