Walsall College Health and Social Care students will gain an in-depth understanding of human anatomy and physiology, when Anatomy Lab LIVE hosts its next VIVIT experience – a live post-mortem and dissection event - at the college!

Anatomy Lab LIVE is a popular touring anatomy event, inspiring and educating students and the general public about how the human body works. They bring together the best anatomists and practising medics to deliver events that are both interactive and informative.

The tour will stop at Walsall College on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th May from 6-10pm. Tickets are priced at £40 and are also available to the general public.

The event is delivered by nationally acclaimed anatomist, Samuel Piri and his team of practising medics who will perform a live dissection of VIVIT - the world’s only semi-synthetic human cadaver.

VIVIT is a specially built synthetic human body with an artificial shell that houses real internal organs. Live in a specially created anatomy lab at the event, the organs will be removed and the fundamental biology that keeps humans alive will be explained.

The audience will gain an understanding of how the body functions in a healthy individual and what happens when different disease states take hold. They will also have a chance to put their questions to the academic team as well handle anatomical samples.

Head of Curriculum for Health and Social Care at Walsall College, Jo Parton, said: “We are delighted to be hosting these unique events as they will give our students, as well as students across the borough an opportunity to gain a real hands-on experience of human anatomy from a team of experienced industry professionals.”

VIVIT experiences are special events aimed at students studying BTEC or A-Level courses and looking to progress to careers in health, medicine or the bio sciences. They are specifically designed to match qualification specifications and aimed at helping students improve their understanding of human anatomy and physiology in preparation for exams and assignments.
