Unemployed people aged 24 and over are being encouraged to find out more about a new training programme designed to help them get back into work. The City of Wolverhampton Council, in partnership with GTG Training Centre and Walsall College, is running a warehousing training programme thanks to a successful bid to the Royal Bank of Scotland Skills & Opportunities fund, which is designed to help unemployed people aged 24 and over.

People who successfully complete the training will receive qualifications in Employability Skills Level, Warehousing and Storage, Manual Handling and Counter balance Forklift Truck driving. There will also be the chance to complete the fork lift truck licence test.

Participants will also receive dedicated coaching and mentoring support from the council’s Economic Inclusion Team who will help them find employment opportunities.

Councillor John Reynolds, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: “We are determined to do all we can to help our residents into employment, and training programmes such as this are an excellent way to give them the skills and qualifications they need to succeed.”
