Students at Gospel Oak School – based in Tipton, in the West Midlands, and part of the Central Region Schools Trust – have been inspired to think about their next steps after school following an exciting Futures Fair held on campus.
The event brought together a wide range of exhibitors, ranging from local and national employers, training providers, colleges, universities and representatives from the armed forces. It provided an opportunity to share insights, opportunities and advice to help guide students towards their future goals.
Among those attending were the University of Birmingham, Newby Foundries Group and Doocey Group, whose representatives offered practical guidance and answered students’ questions. Their presence helped to showcase the breadth of opportunities available to students across different industries.
Throughout the day, students took part in conversations about career pathways, including apprenticeships and higher education options. They asked thoughtful questions and showing genuine curiosity about their options.
Staff and visitors alike commented on how engaged and respectful the students were throughout the event. Sarah Wilkins, Director of Careers at Gospel Oak School, said: “The Futures Fair is all about helping our students explore what’s possible, whether that’s university, apprenticeships or going straight into the world of work.
“It was wonderful to see so many of them making the most of the opportunity, speaking confidently with employers and asking great questions about their futures.” Executive Principal at Gospel Oak School, Stephen Brownlow, added: “Aspiration is at the heart of everything we do at Gospel Oak School, and events like this are a fantastic way to show students just how many doors are open to them.
“We want every young person here to feel confident about their potential and excited about where their learning can take them. Our Futures Fair was all about helping students see that success comes in many forms and starts with believing in themselves.
“Seeing their enthusiasm and ambition on display throughout the day was a real reminder of why we’re so proud of this school community.”
