From part-time programmes to distance learning and continuous development courses, Walsall College have even more courses that adult learners can fit around family and work commitments.

Courses are available in a range of subjects including Accounting and Finance, Automotive, Engineering, Welding, Childcare, Health and Social Care, Computing and ICT, Construction, the Creative Industry, Customer Services, Hospitality and Cookery, ESOL, Dance, Drama, Horticulture, Management, Law and HR, Employability, Teacher Training, Fashion and Jewellery, Enterprise, Woodwork and Restoration, Sport and Warehousing, Storage and Transport.

 

Subsidies of just over £4,000

With thousands of jobs coming into the region, Walsall College are helping new learners compete by giving them access to subsidies of up to £4065 to fund some of its Level 3 and 4 courses.

Supplied by the Career Learning Pilot, subsides are available for learners taking on Level 3 Diplomas in Plumbing Studies, Administration (Business Professional), Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) and Engineering.

 

The Career Learning Pilot aims to support local business by filling their skills gaps by making it easier for adults to take part in training.

 

New Accounting and Painting and Decorating courses

For those looking to start a career in accounting, there are flexible AAT accounting courses available that enables learners to fit their studies around their life and work commitments. These include Level 2 courses in Accounting Software, as well as Level 2 and 3 courses in Bookkeeping and Accounting.

 

With the aim of enhancing its existing painting and decorating courses, the College recently launched Bell Group’s 6th academy to give learners the hands-on experience they need to succeed in the industry.

 

The full-time and part-time adult courses in painting and decorating will give learners the opportunity to hone their skills in the academy’s industry standard workshops and to receive expert advice from Bell Group’s staff.

 

Adult and Community Learning courses

Free courses will be held at the Moxley People’s Centre, which is one of the College’s Adult and Community Learning venues.

 

Learners looking to return to work can take on a number of courses at the centre, such as Customer Service in Retail, IT, Life in the UK, Health and Social Care, Beauty, English and Maths, plus Preparation to Work in Schools.

 

There are also a number of free courses held across other community venues. If you are earning below £15,736.50 gross salary per year, you may be eligible to enrol on any of the college’s courses free of charge.

 

Loans and Access courses

Adults who have been held back by their finances in the past, can now apply for an Advanced Learning Loan to help with the cost of their course fees at Walsall College.

 

The scheme now allows any UK resident aged 19 or older and looking to enrol on a level 3 course or above, including QCF Certificates and Diplomas and Access to HE courses.
