The Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) – Promoter of the FORMULA 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2021 – has today become an Official World Record Holder as the final brick was placed by the Chairman of SAMF, HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, to complete the world’s largest LEGO brick build of a Formula 1® car in aid of Ehsan - Saudi Arabia’s National Platform for Charitable Work.

The record was certified by Guinness World Records, whose representatives observed the successful completion of the LEGO brick build of a Formula 1 car before officially verifying the achievement.

Following the conclusion of an open recruitment process, UK Athletics is delighted to confirm the appointment of Ian Beattie MBE as Chair to the organisation.

This has been made after conducting an inclusive open recruitment process, in accordance with the Code for Sports Governance.

England have withdrawn their men's and women's teams from series in Pakistan that were due to take place next month.

The men were set to make their first trip to Pakistan since 2005, while the women had never before played there.

Olympic 1500m silver medallist, Laura Muir, and double Paralympic gold medallist, Kadeena Cox, have made a special visit to the Alexander Stadium to see for themselves the progress being made on the redevelopment of the venue ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Both athletes used the visit to announce that they intend to compete at the major multi-sport event next summer. 

Muir, who will be representing Scotland, as she did at the 2014 edition of the Games, is determined to win a Commonwealth medal and is pleased to have the opportunity to do so in a British city where she’s previously seen success.

Tottenham and Chelsea led the tributes for their former player Jimmy Greaves, who died yesterday, with a host of Spurs legends lining the pitch inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a minute's applause was held before kick-off. During the applause, some Spurs fans held flags and banners to remember the club's record goal-scorer.

A team of accounting and finance recruitment specialists will be totting up the miles - and hopefully cash - when they don their cycling gear to raise vital funds for a West Midlands sports-themed charity next week. Langley Swimming Centre in Oldbury is the first Sandwell Leisure Trust (SLT) facility to take up a new training tool as part of an exciting five-year partnership with Swim England.

Forty Level 2 swim teachers from across the Trust attended the Aquatic Skills Framework Stages 8-10 Diving CPD seminar, which is part of the Swim England extended education programme and provides the technical knowledge to deliver FUNdamental diving skills from the poolside in a fun and safe environment. 

The Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) – Promoter of the 2021 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix – has officially begun its Official Attempt at assembling the world’s largest Lego brick build of a Formula 1 car today, with HRH Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, advisor to the governor of the Makkah Region and acting Governor of Jeddah and HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of SAMF, laying the first brick at the downtown activation site located by Jeddah’s Red Sea Mall.

The Official Attempt is being carried out as part of the Kingdom’s celebration of Formula 1’s imminent arrival on the streets of Jeddah in December and to raise vital funds for Ehsan - Saudi Arabia’s focal national charity.

After Emma Raducanu beat fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez 6-4 6-3 to end Britain's 44-year wait for a women's Grand Slam singles champion The Queen led the congratulations to her after the 18-year-old clinched the US Open title with a stunning victory in New York.

One of the country's top schools has launched an investigation after former footballer Fabrice Muamba said his son faced racist abuse in a school rugby game.

Mr Muamba tweeted that his 12-year-old son received monkey chants from opponents at Manchester Grammar School after scoring a try. "Racism is learnt; be careful what you are teaching your children," he said.

The eSkootr Championship (eSC), has launched its Rider Programme for professional athletes wanting to compete in the brand-new electric racing series that starts in the spring of 2022.

The programme is open to professional athletes from all backgrounds, from wheeled sports to balance sports such as skating, skiing, snowboarding and surfing, with a number of high-profile names already expressing interest and set to be announced soon.

More of the biggest games in world cricket are coming to Birmingham in 2022 with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announcing seven Major Match days for Edgbaston Stadium next summer. Edgbaston will host Joe Root’s England men side for an LV= Insurance Test Match against South Africa from Thursday 25 to Monday 29 August and a mouth-watering Royal London International (ODI) versus India on Saturday 9 July.

The venue will also host the biggest day in the county cricket calendar, with Vitality Blast Finals Day returning to Edgbaston for the 14th time on Saturday 16 July.

Thousands of young athletes made their way home on the 5th of September after an exhilarating four days of sport at the 14th School Games National Finals, a multi-sport event which aims to give them the experience and tools to follow in the footsteps of professional athletes, many of which were on campus.

On top of Tokyo 2020 Olympians Holly Bradshaw and Alice Dearing opening up proceedings on the Thursday, Judo Paralympian Chris Skelley visited Wheelchair Tennis athletes on the final day following his successful Gold journey at Tokyo 2020.
