Warid Telecom joined hands with United World Colleges for an event that aimed to bring parents together to share their thoughts on their children who are studying on scholarships at leading colleges and universities around the globe. Warid Telecom and Pro-Pakistani partnered to support the cause via social media in order to inform less fortunate persons that they too can access quality education on merit.

With the passing of the annual January deadline for university applications, UCAS has released statistics that not only reveal the numbers of students applying for the 2016/17 academic year but also, interestingly, where they are coming from. The new figures show that once again, for the fourth year in a row, the number of students looking to study in the UK have risen, this year by 0.2%, taking 2016/17 figures to 593,720.

Two thirds of parents across the West Midlands believe that the competitive job market is the key barrier to their children not securing the job that they want them to, a poll from Action for Children has revealed. The charity also found that almost ten per cent of parents feel their children are not likely to gain the skills and qualifications they need to find a suitable job, with almost a third (28 per cent) citing their background as a barrier to finding a profession.

The Black Country Chamber of Commerce are holding a Your Future Careers Fairs through a British Chambers of Commerce initiative. They are inviting businesses to showcase their company at their Your Future Careers Fair on Tuesday 23rd February from 11am to 3pm at Willenhall E-Act Academy. This event is free for businesses to exhibit and is an opportunity to engage with the next generation.

The thoughts and time of unemployed young people in Birmingham, and professionals who can spare a few hours to help them develop skills, are being sought after by national volunterring charity Timebank. The charity has launched a new volunteer mentoring project in the city to support 18-25 year olds who are seeking employment as part of Birmingham City Council’s Destination Work programme.
