Tethered Wits are touring the country this summer with two delightful open-air theatre productions, The Great Gatsby and Doctor Dolittle. 1920's New York.
A city full of dreamers. Through, the eyes of Nick Carraway, we are introduced to the high-fliers (and low-lifes) of glitzy Manhattan. However, when he meets a certain Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, he realises the parties are not always what they seem...
Featuring the music of Cole Porter & George Gershwin live on stage, this production promises to be a party to remember. An undisputed gem of American literature, Fitzgerald's critique of the Jazz Age captures the glamorous façade of the era in style.
The Great Gatsby stars Rory Dulku as Jay Gatsby/George Wilson, Olivia Willis as Daisy Buchanan, Oliver Stockley as Nick Carraway, Amelia Stanimeros as Myrtle Wilson/Jordan Baker, Deakin Van Leeuwen as Tom Buchanan, and Amy Backshall as Understudy. The show is directed/adapted by Emma Hodgkinson, with composition/musical direction by Ashok Gupta, produced/choreographed by Gabriella Sills, and Amy Backshall and Amaal Fawzi as Company Stage Managers.
The second production is a family-friendly production of Doctor Dolittle! Doctor Dolittle likes animals. In fact, he likes them so much he fills his house with every kind of creature imaginable. And then one day, he figures out how to speak their language.
Tethered Wits brings this beloved story of the extraordinary animal doctor to life using stunning puppetry. This fun show makes for the paw-fect day out for all the family. The production stars Rory Dulku as Doctor Dolittle, Amelia Stanimeros as Chee-Chee, Deakin Van Leeuwen as Jip, Oliver Stockley as Gub-Gub and Olivia Willis as Polynesia/Annie. Doctor Dolittle is directed/adapted by Emma Hodgkinson, with design/puppetry direction by Eleanor Dickens, composition/musical direction by Deakin van Leeuwen and produced by Gabriella Sills.
The team also includes Amy Backshall and Amaal Fawzi as Stage Managers and Oliver Stockley as Vocal Coach. From Penzance to Birmingham, and the Cotswolds to London - you can catch some open-air theatre at a vineyard, castle, amphitheatre or church near you this summer.
